Weekend Update April 8th

Happy Friday!  There has been so much excitement at Stonehedge this past week.  Students have been working hard and learning lots. To add to that fun, we had an amazing PTA Bingo Night last night. I was worried the rain would keep people from coming out, but we had a great turn out. Thank you for coming.  Thank you for all of your continued support.  I hope everyone has a much deserved Spring Break!

When we return on Monday, April 8th I am hoping you can help us. In the last few weeks, there have been increased incidents of disagreements, hurt feelings and losses of property related to Pokemon cards. These problems are beginning to interfere with instruction. I'd like your help and support in protecting your child's instructional day.  Would you please encourage your child to leave toys and valuables, especially Pokemon cards, at home? I hope it doesn't come to this, but if this issue continues we may need to completely eliminate Pokemon Cards at school. Thank you in advance for your support.

Next Week:
Monday, April 11 - Friday, April 15 - Spring Recess - No School

In the Near Future:
Wednesday, April 20 - PTA Meeting - 6:00 pm - Stonehedge Library
Wednesday, April 20 - Board of Education Meeting - 6:00 pm - WGHS
Wednesday, April 27 - Thursday, April 28 - NYS Math Assessments - Grade 3 & 4
Wednesday, April 27 - WG Special Education PTSA Meeting - 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm - location TBD

Important Information:
Breakfast will now be served in the cafeterias!
As you are aware, breakfast has been served in a “grab and go” fashion and eaten in the classroom so far this school year. We will start serving breakfast in our cafeteria on Monday, April 18th. Please speak with your Stonehedge student about having breakfast in the cafeteria on days they need to do so and contact the classroom teacher if you’re concerned your student may be taking breakfast unnecessarily.
  • Buses will unload at 9:00am, as usual. Then…
  • Grades K-1 will enter through the main doors and go through the line in the BLUE cafe.
  • Grades 2-4 will enter through Door 4 and go through the line in the GOLD cafe.
  • Students being dropped off between 8:45am and 9:00am, who want breakfast, will enter through the main doors and go through the line in the BLUE cafeteria. They will eat in the blue cafeteria and then dismiss to class at 9am.
  • All students will eat in the cafeteria and be released to their classrooms no later than 9:20.
  • Students will not need to enter their pin numbers.
From the Health Office
We have received many questions from parents regarding positive cases at home. Please be advised of the following guidance from the NYS DOH and OCHD:

When exposed to a positive case in your HOME, as long as the student has NO symptoms, they can return to school wearing a well fitting mask for 10 days.  Masking, regardless of vaccination status, is recommended for 10 days after a known home exposure.  Testing on Day 5 after exposure is strongly recommended to detect infection among individuals identified as exposed or potentially exposed.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the health office at 315-487-4636.

Spring Cleaning Your Child's Closet?
The health office is in need of both girls and boys size 8 pants (preferably elastic waist band type pants/leggings). Also, we are in need of underwear for girls - sizes 5, 6, 7-8.

We will gladly accept any gently used items if you are looking to clean out your children's dressers and closets! Thank you so much!

Kindergarten Registration Continues!
Kindergarten registration for the 2022-2023 school year opened virtually on December 1, 2021 and the original deadline was March 31, 2022. Registration has now been extended until April 30, 2022. This will allow our families to register their children from the comfort of their home or office. Please click here to start the Virtual Registration process. This will schedule a telemeeting with you.

When registering, parents should be prepared to upload the following:
proof of residency (ie. mortgage or property statement or signed lease agreement)
proof of immunizations
proof of age

A physical examination is also required and a dental certificate is requested for entry into kindergarten. These examinations should be done up to one year prior to the first day of school. Children who enter kindergarten this fall must be five years of age on or before December 1, 2022.

Thank you to our Office Helper!

In Mrs. Castaldo's 4th Grade Class, students are learning that we use the energy from food to make our bodies move just like cars use the energy from gasoline to move.

Ramadan Lanterns
In Mrs. Moser-Vogler's  Art Class, Mrs. Lizzi's 2nd Grade students created Ramadan Lanterns!  Ramadan Mubarak to all who celebrate!  The month of Ramadan has been associated with a number of
customs which differ from other months and add joy to houses and streets.  Muslim people still celebrate these old customs because they became rituals related to the holy month.  Among these are the "Ramadan Lantern" which families love to have to decorate houses, shops, and porches with.  Lantern is "Fanoos" in Arabic.
