Have a Great SUMMER!

The end of the year is always bittersweet. As we close one school year, we look forward to another: more opportunities for growth, learning, friendship, and new experiences.

As part of a welcoming tradition, our first grade students visited second grade classrooms to talk about what second grade is really like. Likewise, our youngest students visited first grade classrooms to get the low down on what the "big kids" do every day in first grade.

A beautiful day calls for some chalk drawings! Second graders decorated the sidewalk leading to the buses with happy messages for the last day.

Kicking A Reading Goal Out of the Park
As a reward for meeting and BEATING their reading goal in the "Read Like a Rock Star" program with the library, the entire second grade participated in a kickball tournament!

Have a wonderful summer! We can't wait to see you again on September 5, 2018!

Winding Down our Days

The Water Carnival Was a "Splashing" Success
Bright sunny skies helped our kids enjoy a "splashing" good time at this year's annual  water carnival. Thanks to our tremendous physical education staff and the countless other staff members and volunteers who helped out during this year's water carnival, fun was had by all! The weather was beautiful and some new activities balanced nicely with tried and true ones.

Seniors Come Full Circle
Thirteen years ago many of this year's graduating seniors entered the doors of Stonehedge Elementary School for the first time. Last week, they returned. Donning graduation caps and shirts emblazoned with future colleges, military, or SEN18RS, these soon-to-be graduates walked through the hallways of their elementary school. They waved, gave out high fives, and cheered along with the current students who were lining the halls.

Bidding A Fond Farewell
After nearly 30 years teaching at Stonehedge Patty Munley is retiring. She will be sorely missed by staff and students alike. Patty's warm personality and endearing laugh brightened our halls and touched hundreds of students' lives. We wish her well and best of luck in the future.

BINGO Winners Earn Special Prize
Last week, Dawson,Bryce, Lukas, and Mohammed all had lunch with Mrs. Keevil. It's hard to tell who had more fun. These boys shared all their favorite things about school as well as what keeps them busy outside of school. Dawson was the winner of the PTA sponsored Grade 1 Game Night drawing.

Bike Rodeo Winner Rides to the Prize
Congratulations to kindergarten student Gabriella Hoy! Her name was one of two drawn at the PTA's recent Bike Rodeo. She won a great set of wheels to cruise around on!
