We are so excited to announce our ONE School- ONE Book event. Every family and staff member at Stonehedge will be receiving a copy of the book Wishtree by Katherine Applegate to keep. The story is told from the POV of Red (the oak tree). It is a story of a neighborhood that goes through changes, but learns to love and grow together. Each morning students will have a chance to discuss the book, answer trivia questions, and make connections with our Stonehedge community. You'll be receiving your copy and a bookmark outlining the daily reading. We'll be posting videos of each night's reading, too! After we have all read the book, we'll be doing a school wide culminating activity. It is going to be AWESOME!

Important Information:
Please consider donating to the WGHS Participation In Government (PIG) Power Pack Food Drive. Bins will be in each of the lobbies at Stonehedge to collect food for the power packs. The WGHS students have requested Raman, Oatmeal, Applesauce, and Granola Bars. Students will be picking up donations April 29th at the end of the day.

WGCS STUDENT DRESS CODE
Just a reminder as the weather is starting to warm up. All students are expected to give proper attention to personal cleanliness and to dress appropriately for West Genesee programs. Students and their parents have the primary responsibility for acceptable student dress and appearance. Teachers and all other West Genesee personnel should exemplify and reinforce acceptable attire, and help students develop an understanding of appropriate appearance in the educational setting. A student’s dress, grooming and appearance shall:
Be safe, appropriate and not disrupt or interfere with the educational process.
Recognize appropriateness of garments as outlined in the building level handbook.
Include footwear at all times. Footwear that is a safety hazard will not be allowed.
Not include the wearing of hats/headgear/hoods/ in the school building except for a medical or religious purpose, or where it is part of a uniform.
Not include items that are vulgar, obscene, libelous, or that denigrate others on account of race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, gender, sexual orientation or disability.
Not promote and/or endorse the use of alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs and/or encourage other illegal or violent activities. Students who violate the student dress code shall be required to modify their appearance by covering or removing the offending item, and if necessary or practical replacing it with an acceptable item.
Breakfast is now served in the cafeterias!
As you are aware, breakfast has been served in a “grab and go” fashion and eaten in the classroom so far this school year. We started serving breakfast in our cafeterias on Monday, April 18th. Please speak with your Stonehedge student about having breakfast in the cafeteria on days they need to do so and contact the classroom teacher if you’re concerned your student may be taking breakfast unnecessarily.
- Buses will unload at 9:00am, as usual. Then…
- Grades K-1 will enter through the main doors and go through the line in the BLUE cafe.
- Grades 2-4 will enter through Door 4 and go through the line in the GOLD cafe.
- Students being dropped off between 8:45am and 9:00am, who want breakfast, will enter through the main doors and go through the line in the BLUE cafeteria. They will eat in the blue cafeteria and then dismiss to class at 9am.
- All students will eat in the cafeteria and be released to their classrooms no later than 9:20.
- Students will not need to enter their pin numbers.
Kindergarten Registration Continues!
Kindergarten registration for the 2022-2023 school year opened virtually on December 1, 2021 and the original deadline was March 31, 2022. Registration has now been extended until April 30, 2022. This will allow our families to register their children from the comfort of their home or office. Please click here to start the Virtual Registration process. This will schedule a telemeeting with you.
When registering, parents should be prepared to upload the following:
proof of residency (ie. mortgage or property statement or signed lease agreement)
proof of immunizations
proof of age
A physical examination is also required and a dental certificate is requested for entry into kindergarten. These examinations should be done up to one year prior to the first day of school. Children who enter kindergarten this fall must be five years of age on or before December 1, 2022.

Budget Hearing for 2022-2023 Budget Scheduled for Wednesday, May 4
Superintendent David C. Bills, along with Assistant Superintendent for Management Services Christine DeMass, will be giving a visual presentation to explain the proposed 2022-2023 school budget on May 4, 2022 during the Budget Public Hearing at 6:00 p.m. in the West Genesee High School Library and via Livestream. The public is invited to attend this presentation.
The Budget Vote will take place on May 17, 2022. Polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the West Genesee High School Auditorium Lobby; so please mark your calendars!

PTA:
The West Genesee PTA/PTO District Council is sponsoring a district-wide celebration of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Students, staff, and families have the opportunity to purchase a t-shirt to be worn as a community on Wildcat Unity Day on May 20th. Learning In Action
Diane Schenandoah from the Oneida Nation (Wolf Clan) shared stories, traditions and dancing with our 3rd graders to bring to life the Native American Unit they are studying.
School Expectations Review
Special Areas reviewed school expectations with students. The library staff welcomed students to the "Stonehedge Cafe." Please help reiterate the importance of following expectations in our "fine dining establishments." Student should especially focus on using a level 1 voice, using kind words, and maintaining their self control at all times.
