Unity Day
The West Genesee District Council PTA is sponsoring a district-wide Wildcat Unity Day: A Celebration of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion on Friday, May 20th. Students, staff, and families have the opportunity to purchase a t-shirt to be worn as a community on Wildcat Unity Day on May 20th. Orders can be placed online by April 30th through Syracuse Swag at https://syrswag.com/design/wg-unity/. The shirts state love, empathy, compassion, inclusion, justice, and kindness on the front and Wildcat Unity on the back.  In the spirit of inclusion, you may also donate a t-shirt to a WG student in need at checkout or participate by wearing your favorite Blue and Gold gear. Let's celebrate Wildcat strength through our unity! We hope to grow this event in coming years so we welcome your feedback for improvement.  Flyers will be going home which include the QR to share your Unity Activities.

2022-23 UPK Letter of Intent Due May 19
West Genesee offers a free Universal Pre-Kindergarten program for four-year-old children residing in the West Genesee Central School District. Costs associated with the implementation of the program will be covered by funds allocated to the District via New York State.

To be eligible for the program, a child
  • must be four years old on or before December 1, 2022;
  • be a West Genesee school district resident;
  • and have all required immunizations.
The District is anticipating one pre-K classroom in one of its elementary schools with a maximum of 18 students. Holy Family School will host two UPK classes (maximum 18 children per class). And Learn As You Grow will host three classes (maximum 20 children per class).

This is a five-hour program and children selected to participate must attend the program five days per week. The WG UPK class and the Holy Family UPK classes will be staffed by one certified teacher and one teaching assistant. The Learn As You Grow UPK classes will have one certified teacher and two other adults.

Transportation is not provided to any of the programs.

In the event that more applications are received than can be accommodated, the district will conduct an open lottery in which children will be selected at random.

If you are interested in having your child participate in the UPK program for the 2022-23 school year, please complete the survey below NO LATER THAN 4:00 P.M. ON THURSDAY, MAY 19, 2022.

The form is available at https://forms.gle/NV9Njk68ZkYT4c5X6

Children will be randomly selected for UPK through a computerized lottery system. All applicants will receive a phone call in the order of selection following the lottery to let families know their child’s status.

Parents/guardians/caregivers whose children are selected for the program will be directed to our online registration link beginning on May 23. For more specific information, please visit our website at www.westgenesee.org, or you may call the District Office at 315-487-4562.

Calling all 4th Graders (and their parents)! The National Parks Want You!
The US National Park Service invites kids to discover amazing places and see nature in all its glory. And to make it easier, they provide a free pass to all fourth graders and their families. The program is called Every Kid Outdoors and gives free access to hundreds of parks, lands and waters through 8/31.

Go to their website and fill out the mini questionnaire with your fourth grader and at the end, you’ll get a pass that you can print.

Positivity Project:
The P2 trait this week was purpose. Purpose gives individuals the sense that they are put on
this earth for a reason and that they are somehow connected with humanity or the universe. Click here to see more information about Purpose.
