Weekend Update August 28

Happy Friday!  It is hard to believe we'll be starting school in less than two weeks. It has been exciting here as everyone is working hard to get ready.  I know you have SO many questions.  I hope to answer some in this week's blog.  As always, please or email if we can assist you.

Class placement

Our summer mailing will be going out the middle of next week. This will include:

  • A backpack tag of your students teacher and number
  • Information about transportation
  • Information regarding the School Building Meal Plan
  • Information regarding the School Meal Program
  • Annual Student Information Verification Forms (Emergency Forms)
  • Important information about Arrival, Health Screening, and Dismissal
  • Supply Lists

Arrival and Dismissal

Families will be provided with pads of home screening slips. These slips, which indicate that a child’s temperature has been taken prior to arrival at school, the temperature is less than 100℉, the child is symptom-free, etc., will be given to school staff upon entering the building. If a child does not have the screening slip, their temperature will be taken. If the temperature is over 100℉, they will be escorted to the nurse. Students with completed screening slips will walk directly to their assigned classroom. Students riding the bus are asked to have their screening form visible for the bus driver to see each morning.

8:40-9:00 - Drop-off Time for Students Arriving by Car

  • Please do not drop children off too early; there is no supervision until 8:40 a.m.
  • Each car will drop all students in that car off at one location. For families with multiple children attending Stonehedge, please drop at the youngest child’s door.
  • Students in grades K and 1, along with older siblings, will be dropped off at doors # 17 & 18 located at the east end of Stonehedge closest to the district office.
  • Grade 2 students in Lizzi, Prosser, & Jackson along with older siblings should enter at the Blue Main Entrance (#1).
  • 2nd grade classes in Goodnow, Bailey, Schweitzer, Bednardski, Touron and all 3rd grade classes, along with older siblings, will enter at the Gold Main Entrance (#4).
  • Students in Grade 4 with no younger siblings attending Stonehedge will be dropped off at door # 7 near the staff parking lot behind Stonehedge Gold.

9:00-9:10 – School Bus Drop-off Time

  • Buses pull into the bus loop at 8:55.  Students exit the buses at 9:00 and enter the building to start the school day!

2:15-2:30 - School Bus Dismissal Time

  • Students will board buses beginning at 2:15, and buses will depart from school at 2:30.  NOTE:  Parents picking up students from school must wait until after all buses leave before pulling into the parking lot.

2:30 – Pick-up Time Begins (for parents picking up students)

  • All student pick-ups will take place at the same door listed above for Arrival.  No parent will exit their car or enter the building.  Students will be escorted to cars for dismissal.
  • Anyone who indicated “self-transport” for the PM dismissal will receive a car tag and student tag in a separate mailing.
  • If you signed up for “district transportation,” but you plan to regularly pick up your child at dismissal  please contact the Blue or Gold Main Office to get a car tag.
  • If you plan to participate in a regular car pool, please call the main office to make arrangements.
  • The procedure for picking up students will take a lot of time at first, so thank you for being patient while we work out this routine.
  • The car tags will look something like

Early Pick-up

  • If you need to pick your student up before dismissal for an appointment, etc., please complete the enclosed “Early Student Pick-up” form and send it with your student in the morning.
  • There is a 2:00 pm deadline for picking up students early.  Parent will enter the building to sign the student out.

Questions & Answers regarding Arrival and Dismissal:

Q: What about walkers and students riding bikes?
A: If you are allowing your child to walk or bike home, please send a note to the office. Walkers and bike riders should arrive between 8:40 and 8:55.

Q: What if my children participate in a carpool?
A: Please contact the office. You will need to provide a written note indicating your permission for your child to ride in a different car. If the carpool is happening daily, we will provide the children with the same tag number.

Q: What if a tag is lost?
A: Please contact the office.

Q: What if I need to pick up my child early on a given day?
A: Early pick-up must occur before 2:00 so that the buses can enter the parking lot. Please report to office and be sure to have sent in an early dismissal form (included in the summer mailing)

Q: What if I selected district transportation but want to pick my child up once in a while?
A: If you typically pick up your child more than twice a month, please contact the office for a tag.

Q: When will I receive my tags?
A: They are scheduled to arrive at Stonehedge by September 3rd. They will then be mailed home.

Q: What if my child needs assistance getting out of the car seat?
A: Feel free to put on a mask and assist your child out of the car in the drop off lane.

Remote students

Remote students will also receive a packet with information about their placement and the meal plan. We are asking that all remote students come to school on Wednesday, September 9th between 9:00 and 1:00 to pick up their Chromebooks and instructional materials. Please call the office if you are unable to come at this time.

I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend. I look forward to seeing your children in less than two weeks!
