Don't you love a good riddle? I know the kids do! Can you believe March is right around the corner?!? With each new month, I am reminded of how grateful I am for all the community is doing to support Stonehedge students. It's been almost a year of life in this COVID pandemic and somehow we have managed reimagine school and it's going well. Thank you for all you are doing to keep us learning and growing.
Next Week:
Wednesday, March 3 - BOE Listening Session - 6:00 pm - WGHS Library
Wednesday, March 3 - BOE Meeting - 7:00 pm - Live Stream
Important Information:
The West Genesee Central School District Board of Education (BOE) invites parents, staff, community members, and students to a rescheduled Community Listening Session
It will be held in the West Genesee High School Library on Wednesday, March 3, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. (prior to the BOE meeting that will start at 7:00 p.m.) The guiding question for this is: "What are your hopes and dreams for WGCSD?" Please consider joining this session and offering your thoughts.
Those who would like to come to the Library and participate will need to pre-register by filling out the RSVP from the invitation here. This will allow us to track participant numbers. Depending on how many register and the capacity we can have in the Library, we will put in place a plan for overflow (i.e satellite rooms). It will also be livestreamed so anyone can watch from the link on the website or by clicking here.
If you cannot join that evening, but want to share your thoughts, please send an email with your hopes to kcoyne@westgenesee.org and your ideas will be included. The BOE President, Kimberly Coyne, will try to read them aloud if there is time.
PIZZA POSSE with Officer Skardinski
School Resource Officer Skardinski will be visiting our classrooms at their regular lunchtime, bringing pizza and getting to know the students. Only Pizza will be provided. Students can still bring lunch from home. Students can still order regular school lunch. Please contact your child’s teacher if there are any dietary restrictions. A notice will be sent home the week prior to Officer Skardinski’s lunchtime visit with your student’s class. Too, additional Camillus Police officers will be joining us for Pizza and offering a tour of their police cars.

Positivity Project: Enthusiasm
Enthusiasm means you approach life with excitement and energy. You energize people around you. It is the ability to bring life and excitement to different situations. It often leads to a higher level of involvement and engagement both for individuals and for groups. Those who demonstrate zest and enthusiasm bring an energy and level of intensity to individual and group work. These people are often identified as early leaders and innovators as a result of their outward excitement about a task or project. Look for these people to recruit new group members and generate ideas.
PTA:The Gertrude Hawk pick up day will be Tuesday, March 16th from 3pm to 7:30pm. Please come to the back of the school on the GOLD SIDE for a drive-by pickup between 3pm and 7:30pm. If you have any questions please contact Johanna LeFever at jblefever@yahoo.com.
Thank you for your support.
Around School:
Show Your Stripes for Rare Disease Day! We understand that injustices hurt us all. In practice, equity means that we meet people’s specific needs and do everything that we can to eliminate physical and social barriers that prevent some from fully and fairly participating in our world. We are wearing our stripes today not only to raise awareness about rare disease but also to teach understanding and acceptance of others, promote good human relations and create an environment free of prejudice and discrimination.
Rare Disease Day brings attention to the 300 million people living with a rare disease. There are over 6000 rare diseases that are chronic, progressive, degenerative, disabling and frequently life threatening. Due to the rarity of each individual disease and scattered populations, expertise and information is scarce. People living with a rare disease face inequities in accessing diagnosis, care and treatments. These people can also face discrimination at work, school and leisure. We all play a part and it starts with understanding and respect for all.
Wednesday marked the 100th day of this school year! We have grown 100 days smarter, kinder and closer to one another. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to keeping our school healthy, safe and happy.
