The Stonehedge Giving Tree

Each year as the holidays get underway, the Stonehedge community turns its heart and thoughts toward others. The PTA’s Annual Giving Tree drive will be collecting holiday gifts for families in need at Stonehedge and a very worthy local organization, the Samaritan Center.

Principal Simmons and Principal Suddaby will ensure that Stonehedge families in need will be kept strictly confidential. In an effort to meet the specific needs of these children, we are asking that families of students in kindergarten, first and second grade please consider donating cash or Target gift cards. Even a small donation can make a world of difference to a child.

The Samaritan Center in Syracuse (www.samcenter.org) provides hot, nutritious meals daily to those who are in need without questions or pre-conditions. In an effort to ensure that the donations will most benefit the organization, we have assigned specific items for each grade level to collect. If you are able this holiday season, please consider collecting items with your child and use the time together as teachable moments to discuss giving to others. We are kindly asking that students collect goods according to grade:

Third:  toiletries (i.e., soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, lip balm)
Fourth:  Non perishable food items (ex. PB, jelly, oatmeal packs, canned fruits and vegetables, pancake mix, syrup)

In addition, for all households, please consider looking through closets and drawers to see if you have any spare trial size toiletry items. They are very much needed and welcomed at the Samaritan Center.
This year’s drive is running December 1st through December 18th. Please leave UNWRAPPED donated goods in the boxes in either lobby.
Many thanks for your time and generosity. For more information, or to volunteer, please contact:
