Weekend Update Oct 4

Around Stonehedge this week...

Positivity Project Assembly

We had our first P2 Assembly this week!  It was AWESOME!  The students were impeccable audience members.  We celebrated our school community. We talked all about the traits we've learned so far. We sang and danced.  Mrs. Lawrence and Mrs. McCarthy's classes taught us a kindness song with hand motions.  It was so endearing I teared up watching them.  I even got to wear a superhero cape that displays my superhero trait of "LOVE."  Please ask your little one about it.  It was one of my most favorite memories of Stonehedge so far.  You could feel the energy and enthusiasm in the room.  Next week, we'll focus on Being Present and Giving Others your Attention

SOCKTOBER

At our P2 Assembly we introduced our SOCKTOBER Sock Drive.  Stonehedge will be collecting new socks the week of October 16-20th.  The socks can be sent in your child's backpack.  At the end of the week, the socks collected will be donated to our local Rescue Mission.  We hope to help those in need in the upcoming winter months.  #otherpeoplematter

Pick A Reading Partner (PARP)

We are really digging all of our PARP activities.  We had a very successful book fair.  Thank you to those families who supported us by purchasing books for their homes and for the classrooms, too.   The students are enjoying the guest readers who have been surprising them this week.  {A superhero may have read to a few classes today ;) } Monday, October 7th the first PARP slips are due.

Math centers

First grade has been really rocking out the math centers.  They are reviewing concepts taught previously, scooping, popping, and rolling dice.

Whisper Reading with Mrs. Simmons

In library...

Students are preparing for an author visit from Troy Cummings. Thanks to the PTA, he'll be here on Oct 25th.

Ways to help PTA

The PTA does more than just sponsor author visits.  They host the book fair, Picture Day, Pumpkinhedge, Spirit Days, and that is just to name a few.  You can help by signing up, attending meetings, volunteering to help out at events, and participating in fundraisers (Box Tops, Buffalo Wild Wings, Tops in Education, Shoparoo).

To eat Breakfast or not to eat breakfast?

Our mornings here at Stonehedge often begin with breakfast. Parents and guardians please talk to your children about breakfast.  If you want them to attend, we get the kiddos off the bus at 8:50.  If they eat at home, talk to them about not eating a second breakfast at school.  The easiest way to manage their account is through myschoolbucks. https://www.westgenesee.org/onepay-membership-feature-on-myschoolbucks/.
