Weekend Update January 15th

Everyone is working so hard and doing small things in great ways to keep us afloat. It seems rather fitting that we celebrate Perseverance this week, while we also observe Martin Luther King, Jr Day. It's already the middle of January and I am so grateful we have been able to maintain in person learning.  Thank you for the work it takes on your end. Whether you are a staff member or a family member or both... I know it takes superhero powers and "human chess" moves to get our students ready and prepared for learning.  I know you have been rushing to pick students up from school while on a zoom call, eating breakfast in the car and helping your colleague make last minute sub plans. I know you have been keeping mildly symptomatic students home and making last minute arrangements upending your day. I know you have been changing your life on a moments noticed after a call to quarantine or to switch to remote learning.  I look forward to the day we can welcome our fully remote students back to the building. I can't wait to see children's smiles in the classroom without masks and to hear the joy of children playing together within 6 feet. Until that day, I am reminded of another favorite quote from Martin Luther King, Jr. "Only in the darkness can you see the stars." I'll keep enjoying the stars and know the sun rise is coming. Thank you for your never ending support. Keep persevering.

Positivity Project: Perseverance
Perseverance means you complete what you start despite obstacles. You never give up. The concept of perseverance can most often be found in one’s active pursuit in overcoming obstacles. Perseverance is a uniquely human characteristic that identifies an individual’s ability to spend long periods of time devoted to a single goal or set of goals. Those who persevere are able to set goals for themselves and then take active, calculated steps toward those goals. People demonstrating high levels of perseverance are able to handle significant, sometimes repeated, setbacks in pursuit of goals.
