A "Special" Spring Week

We were very proud to celebrate several of our students who participated in the Special Olympics held yesterday. Our dedicated special education teachers and teacher assistants as well as our Physical Education staff are to be commended for the hard work they put in to support this special day.

According to an article on the Special Olympics on syracuse.com, "A record number of Central New York students participated today in the annual Special Olympics Track & Field event at Cicero-North Syracuse High School. Fina Santangelo, a North Syracuse school district physical education teacher who helps organize the event, said about 1,000 students participated this year, which made this the largest event to date.

As part of what's become an incredibly moving tradition, the staff and students of Stonehedge lined our sidewalk and hallways with handmade signs to welcome our athletes as they returned from their day of competing. The cheers and support rallied the competitors as they paraded through the school.

Open House Offered a Great Showcase of Student Work
Last night's open house was packed with families eager to celebrate student learning! Gorgeous student artwork decorated the entire building. Special thanks to our art teachers, Ms. Rugg and Mrs. Mosler-Vogler for their extra hard work displaying a piece of art from each the building's 750 students! Parents had an opportunity for an informal conversation with classroom teachers and to get a bird's eye view of students projects. Thank you to teachers and students for making this such a fun family event.
